F.A.Q about a Volunteer Home Inspections Mold Inspections:
Why should I test my Indoor Air Quality?
Most home owners just assume that their allergies and asthma symptoms are normal and just part of living in East Tennessee.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tells us that on average the air in most of our homes is 20 to 200 times worse than the air outdoors. The effect of newer building techniques and materials coupled with building “tighter” homes for greater energy efficiency has had a dramatically negative effect on the air we breathe in our homes.
Family members at greatest risk for airborne illness includes children, senior citizens, adults with compromised immune systems and those with specific sensitivities to mold and yeast particulates. Reactions to air borne contaminates is variable. Some family members get very sick on levels that have no effect on other members.
Red flags such as musty odors, frequent headaches and respiratory congestion and bloody noses often point toward an indoor air quality problem.
Why suffer? You don’t have to live with bad air.
What assurance do we have of a professional inspection?
We are nationally certified and trained in the latest inspection techniques and stay current every year in our training. We have invested heavily in testing equipment to
professionally evaluate your home.
As members of NORMI and MICRO we adhere to the highest ethical standards of the Indoor Air Quality industry.
Each property is thoroughly inspected from the inside out to find potential causes and areas of concern.
We use and independent lab to culture, grow and evaluate collected samples collected from your home.
A detailed, confidential report is prepared and supplied to our client with our findings and recommendations.
Why do you perform a health survey?
Prior to the inspection and sampling we sit down with the family to review medical
history of family members. This information is key in directing our inspection and
provides valuable perspective to testing results. All information is confidential and is only shared with our client.
May I attend the Inspection?
Yes! We highly recommend that our client attend the inspection and review our initial findings at the completion of the initial inspection.
How long does the inspection take?
On site inspection time requirements vary dependant on such things as age of the home, square footage, layout and conditions. Typically a 3 bedroom two bath home takes two to three hours.
When do I get the report?
The report will be transmitted to you in approximately 7 to 10 working days from the
date of the inspection. Proper lab work takes time. Using green technology our reports are sent via Email, making them easy to view and share with your realtor and family (and saving natural resources). A printed copy or copy of the report on CD may alternately be provided on request at a modest additional charge.
What do I do with the report?
Many of our clients share the report results with their health care providers for further evaluation and medical advice.
We will frequently make recommendations on steps to correct issues.
